How To Cut a Kiwi 3 Easy Ways

Cutting a kiwi doesn't have to be scary. Actually, it's pretty easy once you learn how. We'll show you how to cut a kiwi three different ways. And best of all, we'll show you how to actually eat it too!

Health benefits of kiwi:

Kiwis are a fuzzy fruit that is loaded with vitamin C. This powerful little fruit has many health benefits, including boosting immunity, reducing inflammation, and promoting skin health. Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient that is necessary for many functions in the body. It is also an antioxidant, meaning it helps protect cells from damage.

How do you choose kiwi?

To choose a ripe kiwi, start by looking for one that's soft to the touch. The skin of a ripe kiwi should give slightly when you press on it. You should also look for a kiwi with brown spots on the skin, as this is a sign of ripeness. If you're not sure if a kiwi is ripe, try cutting it open to see if the flesh is green and juicy.

How do you know when a kiwi is ripe?

Step 1: Cut off both ends

To remove the skin from the kiwi, start by cutting off the end of the kiwi on both sides. Then use a sharp knife to remove the skin. Be careful not to cut into the flesh of the kiwi. As this fruit is small, we recommend using a small knife or a even better - use a paring knife for this task (see our made-in-USA knives collection here, which comes with a paring knife that's perfect for this task!)

Step 2: Remove the peel (3-ways)

To remove the peel from a kiwi, you will need to use a knife, peeler, or you can even use a spoon.

Method 1 - The knife is the easiest way to do it, but be careful not to cut into the flesh - gently use your paring knife and peel the skin one small section at a time around the kiwi. You only need to do deep enough to see the green flesh - kiwi skin is very thin! (We recommend the paring knife in this knife set)

Method 2 - To use a spoon - place the kiwi on the cutting board and slice it top to bottom, then slide a spoon underneath and cut off the ends.

Method 3 - This is our preferred method. To use a peeler - First, be sure to cut into the flesh a little bit so that the fruit can release its juice. Finally, cut off any sharp edges on the vegetable peeler and slide it under the skin of the kiwi to remove it.

Step 3: Ways to cut a kiwi : chunks, wedges, or slices!

First slice the fruit in half lengthwise, then proceed to cut them into your choice of chunks, wedges or slices! This will make it easier to eat and also look prettier on a platter or dessert. For example, if you are cutting a piece of fruit in half, you would slice the kiwi in half, then cut it into two smaller pieces. If you are cutting a piece of fruit in thirds, you would slice it in thirds then cut it into three smaller pieces. Finally, if you are cutting a piece of fruit into cubes, you would first slice it in half then dice the two halves.

Can you eat the skin of the kiwi?

How do you store a uncut kiwi?
